Ingredients
1 cup seedless dates (soaked in hot
water and soda for 1 hour)
1/2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp baking powder
1 cup plain flour (maida)
½ cup butter or refined oil
½ cup sugar (optional)
½ cup chopped walnuts (akhrot)
2 eggs
4-6 drops of vanilla essence
sweetened cream for serving

Method
- Chop
the dates, soak in hot water and add baking soda. Allow to stand for 1-2
hour.
- Make
dates puree
- Sieve
the flour, baking soda and baking powder.
- Cream
the butter and sugar very well until light and creamy.
- Add
the eggs and vanilla essence one at a time and beat well.

Mix the dates puree and walnuts together and
add alternately with the flour.
- Pour
the mixture into the prepared tin.
- Bake
in a moderate oven at 160 – 180 °C for 30-40 minutes.
- Cool
and cut into slices.
- Serve with sweetened cream
